How does platelet-rich plasma work?

A blood sample is taken from the patient himself. The produce of this blood sample is treated in a cutting-edge device in order to cause platelet disruption and the release of platelet-derived growth factors.
PRP is injected at the dermis level. It has a stimulating effect on follicular units and the extraordinary potential to rehabilitate aging follicles, allowing them to produce quality resistant hair again. That is achieved by increasing vascularization in the area treated, favoring collagen production and counteracting the negative effect of free radicals, avoiding cell aging.
At the same time, PRP stimulates all the other follicular units so that they produce stronger, more resistant hair. Therefore, the PRP treatment is one of the treatments that offer more volume to your scalp hair.
The effect of platelet-rich plasma is mainly based on the fact that platelets contain many growth factors. These substances help generate new blood vessels in the injected area, which receives more nutrients that help increase cell and fiber proliferation. In the specific case of PRP injected in the scalp to treat alopecia, it improves hair quality and thickness. Therefore, we can notice an increase in hair density.

Benefits of Platelet-Rich Plasma

PRP is very useful for every type of alopecia, especially for female alopecia and alopecia areata, as well as for post-chemotherapy alopecia. PRP has become one of the most frequently used treatments against hair loss due to its regenerative potential.
PRP is recommended for every patient, regardless of the degree of hair loss and also for patients before or after undergoing hair transplant. As to the number of sessions, an individual assessment is necessary in each case, although the most usual frequency is once a month for the first three months and then one every three months. Touch-up sessions are also necessary in order to maintain the results obtained in the long term.
One of the advantages of platelet-rich plasma is that it is obtained from the patient himself and, therefore, it is impossible for the body to reject it. For this reason, a specialist’s assessment is enough for this treatment. No prior tests are required.
At our clinic Insparya in Madrid, we use this absolutely safe technique, since its application has almost no contraindications or side effects. In addition, it is almost painless, making it one of the treatments more used for alopecia nowadays.

How many PRP sessions do I need?

It depends on the patient’s condition. We have to know where we stand to determine what results we can achieve and how many sessions will be necessary. The degree of alopecia and hair loss is very important to define the treatment.
As a rule, we indicate one session every three months, especially during the first year or after a hair transplant. Afterwards, we recommend one or two maintenance sessions a year, because results usually last for 6 to 12 months.
One month after the treatment you will start to notice that your hair becomes thicker and fuller. But after the second session the effects are much more noticeable.

PRP and hair mesotherapy

At Insparya, if you buy a hair mesotherapy treatment (link to this page) as well, you can save up to 300 euros. But, why should you combine both treatments?
Because nowadays mesotherapy and PRP (platelet-rich plasma) are the most advanced treatments offering the best results; and they help take care of your hair in different ways. Mesotherapy is a treatment that nourishes both transplanted and native hair, so it is recommended for any person. Due to the action of the vitamins, hyaluronic acid, mineral salts and antiandrogenic factors in Insparya’s formula, your hair gets stronger and thicker and follicular atrophy is delayed, producing thicker, more resistant hair. As we have mentioned, PRP also regenerates tissue and, since it comes from our own blood, it delays the damage of follicular unit cells. Therefore, it prevents hair from aging and becoming thinner and thinner. So the result of both therapies will provide a much younger and healthier hair.
